The Monjaro — sold in China as the Xingyue L — is Geely's mid-size SUV flagship: 4,770 mm on a 2,845 mm wheelbase, built on the Volvo-shared CMA platform and in production since 2021. The 2.0-litre Volvo Drive-E turbo comes in two states of tune. It is not a marketing claim — the engine architecture, and in some markets the assembly, trace back to Volvo's development work. For buyers hesitant about Chinese powertrains, that is the most useful fact you can give them.
Monjaro or Xingyue L — same car? +
The same vehicle. Xingyue L is the Chinese domestic name, Monjaro the export name. Export specification cars carry destination-market equipment and language, so we confirm which build is on the invoice — a domestic-market car sent abroad will have Chinese-language software and different equipment.
Why does the transmission matter? +
Because it differs by engine. The 163 kW T4 Evo uses a seven-speed dual-clutch driving the front wheels, while the 177 kW T5 uses an eight-speed Aisin torque-converter automatic with all-wheel drive. Torque-converter units handle heat, towing and hard use better, and workshops in most markets are more familiar with servicing them, so in congested cities or where technical infrastructure is basic the T5 is the safer specification. Confirm which engine is on the build sheet — the two are not interchangeable.
