Where the Geely Emgrand sits in the market

The Emgrand is Geely's compact sedan and its longest-running export success. This is the fourth-generation car (SS11), on sale since 2021 on Geely's BMA platform — 4,638 mm on a 2,650 mm wheelbase with a naturally aspirated 1.5-litre petrol engine, available with a CVT or a five-speed manual.

It is deliberately simple, and that is the point. More than a decade of export production across Russia, the Middle East, Africa and Latin America means parts are cheap and available, workshops already know the car, and the naturally aspirated engine tolerates variable fuel quality. This generation is also built as the Proton S70 in Malaysia and the BelGee S50 in Belarus and assembled in Egypt, so homologation precedent is unusually broad for a Chinese compact sedan.
