SAIC MG ZS
Why this model
What makes the MG ZS worth importing
Assembled in five countries
China, Thailand, India, Taiwan and Indonesia. Very few vehicles of any origin have that breadth of local manufacturing, and it means homologation and parts exist regionally almost everywhere.
Petrol, hybrid and electric on one nameplate
A dealer can cover every customer type from a single model line, which simplifies stocking and marketing considerably in a market testing electrification.
The Hybrid+ needs no charging
A 1.83 kWh battery with a 100 kW motor for 215 PS combined — self-charging, so it delivers fuel savings in markets with no charging infrastructure at all.
Sold in over twenty markets officially
Europe, the UK, Australia, New Zealand, India, Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines, Vietnam, Singapore, Malaysia, the GCC and Mexico. Certification precedent exists almost everywhere.

MG ZS technical data
Manufacturer figures for the China-market car. Equipment and certification vary by trim, production batch and destination — we confirm the exact build sheet before the order is placed.

A dash means the manufacturer does not publish that figure for this version — we do not estimate it. Range standards differ: CLTC and NEDC read higher than WLTP for the same car, so compare like with like when quoting against a European rival.

About this model
Where the MG ZS sits in the market
The MG ZS is SAIC's subcompact crossover and one of the most widely manufactured vehicles in the world — assembled in China, Thailand, India, Taiwan and Indonesia, and sold officially across Europe, Asia-Pacific, the Middle East and Latin America. The second generation from 2024 runs to 4,430 mm with petrol engines up to 125 kW and a Hybrid+ system producing 215 PS combined, while the ZS EV offers 51.1 kWh LFP and 72.6 kWh NMC packs for 320 to 440 km WLTP.
Its strength is ubiquity. Almost nothing about importing this car is unknown: homologation precedents exist in most markets, parts move through established channels, and the MG badge carries recognition. The corollary is that SAIC's own distributors already cover most territories, so an independent importer needs to find the gaps rather than compete head-on.
Second generation from 2024, larger at 4,430 mm with a Hybrid+ powertrain. The ZS EV is the electric version of the first generation. Petrol, hybrid and electric versions all circulate — specify precisely.
Before you order
What an importer must know about the MG ZS
Both LHD and RHD available — MG supplies right-hand drive to the UK, Australia, India, Thailand and other markets. Assembly runs in China, Thailand, India, Taiwan and Indonesia, so check which origin serves your destination best for duty purposes. Because SAIC has official distribution in most markets for this model, verify whether your destination is already covered — factory warranty follows that channel. Three distinct powertrains circulate under this name (petrol, Hybrid+, ZS EV) across two generations, so be precise in every quote.
