About this model

Where the Foton View sits in the market

The View is Foton's light commercial van series, in production since 2000 and built in panel van, crew van, minibus, minivan, chassis cab and ambulance configurations. Engines range from a 76 hp petrol to a 2.0-litre turbo diesel producing around 134 hp and 193 Nm, driving the rear wheels through a manual gearbox, with a 120 km/h top speed.

This is deliberately basic transport and that is the entire point. Twenty-five years of production means the design is settled and parts cost very little. For a distributor the appeal is breadth: one platform covers delivery firms, hotel shuttles, schools and health services, with factory-built ambulance and minibus bodies that satisfy tender requirements local conversions often cannot. Foton's commercial network across Africa, Asia and the Middle East supports it.

What an importer must know about the Foton View

Both LHD and RHD available. Diesel emissions certification is the usual obstacle for stricter markets — confirm the engine specification and emissions standard for your destination before ordering. Body configuration determines duty classification almost everywhere: a panel van, a minibus and an ambulance version of the same vehicle can be taxed very differently, and passenger-carrying versions often attract much higher duty. Specify the exact body, seat count and engine at order time. Published dimensional data varies by body, so we obtain the build sheet for the exact configuration.

Which body configuration should I order? +

It depends on the end use and, critically, on your local duty structure. Panel vans, crew vans, minibuses and ambulances are usually classified and taxed differently, sometimes with large gaps between them. A minibus configuration might carry double the duty of a panel van in some markets. Tell us how your customs authority classifies them alongside what your customer needs, and we will specify the build accordingly.

Are the ambulance versions factory-built? +

Foton builds ambulance configurations on the View platform, which is meaningful for government and health-sector tenders. A factory-built specialist body usually satisfies type-approval requirements that a local conversion does not, and it comes with proper documentation. If you are bidding for a health-service tender, that distinction can decide whether your bid is even accepted.

Is a 25-year-old design a problem? +

For a commercial vehicle, generally the opposite. Continuous production since 2000 means the design faults were resolved long ago, parts are abundant and cheap, and any workshop knows the vehicle. Commercial buyers are not paying for novelty — they need something that runs, is cheap to fix and does not strand a driver. Age of design works in the vehicle's favour here.
