Hyundai Elantra
Why this model
What makes the Hyundai Elantra worth importing
One of the most produced compact sedans
The Elantra has sold in enormous volumes worldwide for decades. Every workshop knows it, parts are everywhere, and buyers require no persuading about the basics.
Beijing Hyundai production
Built in China since 2020 at Hyundai's Beijing joint venture, which means Chinese cost structures on a globally proven design.
Two clearly different tunes
A 115 hp naturally aspirated engine for fleet and taxi work, or a 140 hp turbo for private buyers. Different duty brackets and running costs from one model line.
Hyundai's global networks
Unlike Chinese brands, Hyundai has dealers and parts channels in most markets, which reduces the practical risk of a parallel import considerably.
Specifications
Hyundai Elantra technical data
Manufacturer figures for the China-market car. Equipment and certification vary by trim, production batch and destination — we confirm the exact build sheet before the order is placed.
| Version | Power | Torque | Range | 0–100 | Drive |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol ICE · CVT | 85 kW115 PS | — | — | — | FWD |
| 1.5T petrol ICE · 7-speed DCT | 103 kW140 PS | — | — | — | FWD |
A dash means the manufacturer does not publish that figure for this version — we do not estimate it. Range standards differ: CLTC and NEDC read higher than WLTP for the same car, so compare like with like when quoting against a European rival.

About this model
Where the Hyundai Elantra sits in the market
The Elantra is Hyundai's compact sedan and one of the highest-volume cars in its class worldwide. The Chinese version, built by Beijing Hyundai since 2020, is based on the seventh-generation CN7 platform with two China-specific engines: a 115 hp naturally aspirated 1.5-litre with a CVT, and a 140 hp 1.5-litre turbo with a seven-speed dual-clutch.
Its value in export is entirely practical — a globally familiar car at Chinese production cost, with Hyundai's parts networks available almost everywhere even though the Chinese version carries no official warranty abroad. The naturally aspirated engine suits taxi and fleet operators; the turbo suits private buyers. Note the dual-clutch transmission on the turbo, which needs more careful servicing than a conventional automatic.
Built by Beijing Hyundai. Based on the seventh-generation Elantra (CN7) with China-specific engine tunes.
Before you order
What an importer must know about the Hyundai Elantra
LHD; right-hand-drive China-built Elantra is not documented, though Hyundai builds RHD versions elsewhere. Hyundai does not export the Chinese Elantra officially, so parallel-export applies without dealer warranty — though Hyundai's global parts channels make service easier to arrange than for a Chinese brand. Hyundai builds the Elantra in Korea, India, the United States and elsewhere; compare landed cost and official support across origins. The 1.5T's dual-clutch needs careful servicing where workshop expertise is limited.
