Where the Aion S / S Plus sits in the market

The Aion S is the sedan that made GAC's electric brand a volume manufacturer. It is a 4,810 mm fastback on a 2,760 mm wheelbase, with the original S using a 58.8 kWh CATL pack and the S Plus offering 50.6 to 69.9 kWh for 420 to 610 km CLTC from front motors of 100 to 165 kW.

Its identity is fleet transport. The Aion S is among the most common electric cars in Chinese taxi and ride-hailing service, and it is engineered for that duty: durable, cheap to run, with strong low-speed torque and enough range for a full working day. GAC has not published a detailed export list for the S as it has for the Y, so many destinations are parallel-export. For a buyer supplying taxi operators or corporate fleets, it is the most credible electric sedan in its price class.

What an importer must know about the Aion S / S Plus

LHD; right-hand-drive availability is not documented for the S, though GAC does build RHD Aion Y — verify before quoting an RHD market. GAC has not published a market list for the S as it has for the Y, so most destinations are served through the parallel-export channel with warranty arranged locally. Charging is GB/T on China-market cars. Note the range figures are CLTC; for European comparison a WLTP figure would be meaningfully lower.

It was designed for that role: durable running gear, strong low-speed torque, low energy consumption, and enough range for a full shift. Fleet operators buying in thousands care about cost per kilometre over five years rather than badge or acceleration, and on that measure the Aion S has been hard to beat. For an importer supplying taxi or ride-hailing operators, that operational record is the strongest sales argument available.

S or S Plus for a fleet order? +

The S Plus with the 69.9 kWh battery, giving 610 km CLTC and 165 kW. A ride-hailing driver covering 300 km a day needs to finish a shift without a mid-day charge, and that pack delivers it. The 50.6 kWh LFP version at 420 km suits shorter urban shifts with depot charging between them, and costs less to land — worth comparing against your customer's actual daily distances.

Can I get this model officially in my market? +

GAC publishes an export market list for the Aion Y but not for the S, so for most destinations the S moves through the parallel-export channel. That means we source the units and handle export and destination documentation, but manufacturer warranty is not automatically available locally. Where GAC has a regional presence — ASEAN in particular — parts access is usually workable. We confirm the position for your specific market first.
