About the Brand
Who is Mazda?
Mazda builds in China through Changan Mazda in Nanjing, after consolidating its two former joint ventures into one. The Chinese range covers the Mazda3 Axela and the CX-5 and CX-50 SUVs, and now includes electric models developed jointly with Changan — the EZ-6 sedan and EZ-60 SUV — which represent Mazda's electric future being engineered in China rather than Japan.
Mazda supplies its global markets from plants in Japan, Mexico and Thailand. The interesting exception is the EZ-6, which Mazda itself exports from China to Europe badged as the Mazda 6e — a genuine factory export programme, but one that runs through Mazda's own distributors rather than being open to third-party traders. Domestic-market cars bought in China and shipped abroad follow the parallel route instead.
