Kia K5
Why this model
What makes the Kia K5 worth importing
Distinctive styling in a conservative class
The K5 is the boldest-looking mid-size sedan from any mainstream manufacturer. In a segment where most cars are anonymous, that is a genuine reason customers choose it.
240 hp from the 2.0-litre turbo
176 kW and 353 Nm gives real performance in an executive sedan, at a price well below German alternatives.
Kia's global service network
Unlike Chinese brands, Kia has dealers and parts channels in most markets, which reduces the risk of a parallel import considerably.
Two very different powertrains
A 1.5-litre turbo with a dual-clutch for economy-focused buyers, or a 2.0-litre turbo with a conventional eight-speed automatic for performance.

Kia K5 technical data
Manufacturer figures for the China-market car. Equipment and certification vary by trim, production batch and destination — we confirm the exact build sheet before the order is placed.
| Version | Power | Torque | Range | 0–100 | Drive |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1.5T petrol ICE · 7-speed DCT | 125 kW170 PS | 253 Nm | — | — | FWD |
| 2.0T petrol ICE · 8-speed automatic | 176 kW240 PS | 353 Nm | — | — | FWD |
A dash means the manufacturer does not publish that figure for this version — we do not estimate it. Range standards differ: CLTC and NEDC read higher than WLTP for the same car, so compare like with like when quoting against a European rival.

About this model
Where the Kia K5 sits in the market
The K5 is Kia's mid-size sedan, built in China by Yueda Kia with a 1.5-litre turbo producing 170 hp through a seven-speed dual-clutch, and a 2.0-litre turbo producing 240 hp and 353 Nm through a conventional eight-speed automatic.
Its strongest asset is styling. In a segment where the Camry and Accord are deliberately conservative, the K5's aggressive design gives customers a reason to choose it beyond price and specification. The 2.0-litre turbo backs that up with genuine performance. Kia's global networks mean parts and service are easier to arrange than for any Chinese brand, even on a parallel import. Note the dual-clutch on the 1.5T — worth considering where transmission servicing is a concern.
Built by Yueda Kia. Sold as the K5 in China and Korea and as the Optima in some historical markets. Chinese specification differs from Korean and American cars.
Before you order
What an importer must know about the Kia K5
LHD; right-hand-drive China-built K5 is not documented, though Kia builds RHD versions in Korea. Kia does not export the Chinese K5 officially, so parallel-export applies with no dealer warranty. Kia builds the K5 in Korea and the United States as well, and those are officially supported in most markets — compare landed cost before deciding. The 1.5T uses a seven-speed dual-clutch, which needs more careful servicing than a torque-converter automatic; the 2.0T's eight-speed automatic is the safer choice where servicing is basic.
Market fit
Where the Kia K5 sells
Based on documented export presence and how the vehicle suits local conditions — not a guarantee of homologation, which we confirm per market before you order.
Middle East
Sedan demand is strong across the Gulf, Kia's networks are established, and the styling appeals to younger buyers.
Central Asia
Mid-size sedan preference with Kia among the most trusted badges; Chinese production undercuts Korean-built cars.
Latin America
Kia has solid regional presence and the K5's design differentiates it from conservative Japanese rivals.
Africa
Executive and corporate fleet demand where Kia's parts availability supports long-term ownership.
