About this model

Where the Wuling Air EV sits in the market

The Air EV is Wuling's small electric hatchback and the model SAIC-GM-Wuling has pushed hardest internationally. It comes in a 2,599 mm short-wheelbase two-seat form or a 2,974 mm long-wheelbase four-seater, with LFP batteries of 17.3 kWh or 26.7 kWh giving 200 to 300 km and rear-mounted motors of 30 kW or 50 kW.

What separates it from the Hongguang Mini EV is genuine international industrialisation. It is assembled in Indonesia at SGMW's Cikarang plant, sold officially in Indonesia, Thailand, Nepal, Brunei and Egypt, and marketed in India as the MG Comet EV. That gives real homologation precedent in Southeast Asia and a proven right-hand-drive route through the Indian version. For a dealer, it is a step up from a micro car — a properly registered passenger vehicle that still lands at a very low cost.

What an importer must know about the Wuling Air EV

LHD and RHD both exist in practice — the Indian MG Comet EV version is right-hand drive, so RHD engineering is proven, though availability under the Wuling badge should be confirmed per market. Confirmed export markets are Indonesia, Thailand, Nepal, Brunei, Egypt and India. Indonesian assembly may give favourable duty treatment for ASEAN destinations — worth checking against a China-built unit. Charging is 6.6 kW AC from a domestic supply; DC fast charging is not the model's strength, which is fine for its intended urban use.

How is the Air EV different from the Hongguang Mini EV? +
The Air EV is larger, better equipped and registers as a normal passenger car in markets where the Mini EV sometimes falls into a quadricycle category. It has a proper four-seat long-wheelbase option, 6.6 kW AC charging and a more conventional interior. The Mini EV is cheaper and smaller. If your customers need a car they can register and use normally, the Air EV is the safer choice.
Is the Indonesian-built version better for my market? +
It may land cheaper. Units assembled at SGMW's Cikarang plant in West Java are Indonesian-origin, which can attract lower duty in ASEAN markets with regional trade agreements, and in Indonesia itself it counts as a domestic product for government and fleet procurement. Is right-hand drive available? +
The engineering exists — the car is sold in India as the MG Comet EV in right-hand-drive form, and Nepal is a confirmed market. What varies is whether RHD is available under the Wuling badge for your specific destination, since MG and Wuling are separate distribution channels within SAIC.
