Where the Deepal SL03 sits in the market

The SL03 is Deepal's rear-drive liftback sedan — 4,820 mm on a 2,900 mm wheelbase, with a 0.23 drag coefficient. The battery-electric car uses a 56.12 kWh CATL LFP pack for 530 km CLTC from a 190 kW rear motor, 6.4 seconds to 100 km/h. Two range-extender versions sit alongside it: a 28.4 kWh pack for 220 km of electric running and 1,200 km combined, and a cheaper 19.0 kWh version rated 140 km and 1,140 km.

Rear-wheel drive at this price is unusual and gives it a handling advantage over front-drive rivals. The LFP chemistry matters for export: it tolerates heat and frequent fast charging far better than NMC, which suits Gulf, African and Southeast Asian conditions. Deepal builds the car in Rayong, Thailand as well as Chongqing, so a factory right-hand-drive version exists. Deepal sits under the Changan group and we hold dealer authorization, so supply is factory-invoiced with genuine warranty documentation.

Which version are you quoting?

Deepal has reworked the SL03 line-up several times. The February 2022 launch cars were a 58.1 kWh battery-electric version rated 515 km CLTC, an 80 kWh version rated 705 km, a 28.4 kWh range-extender rated 200 km, and a hydrogen fuel-cell version sold in tiny numbers in China only. The powertrains below are the current September 2024 / March 2025 model years. Confirm the model year and pack on the build sheet, because the same body has carried packs from 19.0 to 80 kWh.

What an importer must know about the Deepal SL03

LHD standard. Deepal assembles this car in Rayong, Thailand and launched it there in November 2023, so a factory right-hand-drive build exists — confirm availability and lead time for your market before quoting. Note the naming trap: the Thai-market car is badged L07 but is this SL03, not the Huawei-equipped China L07. Supplied through our Deepal authorization with factory-traceable invoicing and warranty documentation. Charging is GB/T on China-market cars. The battery-electric and range-extender versions are mechanically different products — specify which one a quotation covers.

Most electric sedans at this price are front-drive, which limits handling balance and traction under power. The SL03's rear-drive layout gives better weight distribution and a more composed feel. Battery-electric or range-extender? +
The range-extender where charging is unreliable: 220 km of CLTC electric range for daily use with a 1.5-litre generator behind it for 1,200 km combined, so the customer never plans around chargers, and a cheaper 19.0 kWh version covers 140 km. The 56.12 kWh battery-electric car at 530 km CLTC is better where charging exists, and its LFP chemistry stands up well to daily fast charging in hot climates.
